Event Details

Avoidance, Evasion, Compliance - Wednesday 7th March 2012

Our first main event this year wll take place Wednesday 7th March 2012 and will be held at our new Executive Sponsor's Finsbury Square offices, Grant Thornton LLP, whom we thank for the opportunity.

The event will focus on Governance, Regulation and Compliance, inline with our planned ISSA-5173 missiles for this year and we will look to repeat this event in the regions (Glasgow, Bristol and Leeds) over coming months - do look out for this if these are more suitable locations for you.

Over the last few years and very recently it seems, all companies have been hit by Regulatory requirements, such as PCI DSS, DPA and ensuring sufficient protection against those that still breach the Computer Misuse Act, more often than not, from within the organisation itself.

Companies that we work with either seem to Avoid regulatory requirements, ignore them and Evade, or choose to Comply, and the title of the event, "Avoidance, Evasion, Compliance" has stuck with us for quite a while, as reflects the knee-jerk approach that most companies, particular smaller ones, would take if faced with looming regulatory or compliance requirements.

We welcome speakers from Grant Thornton, Secoda Risk Management, Visa Europe, Qualys and also Rapid7, to help present a balanced view of GRC, where we are today, what we can do about it and what we can take away as security professionals and improve the quality and accuracy of advice we give to our employers.

Prior to the main event, we have a brief Annual General Meeting, to cover 2011 activities and those planned for 2012.  This portion would be ISSA-UK members only, and all members and non-members welcome to join the main event, and also the network drinks afterwards.

We hope you all have a great evening - please get in touch with Sophie Wingrove if you have any questions - sophie.wingrove@issa-uk.org.
